“Non-contact formats of rugby are proving ever-more popular in schools, both as progressions towards the contact version but also as highly-skilled, fun and challenging formats in their own right. They are fully inclusive as all young people of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds can participate without any apprehension; and all teachers can feel confident to deliver sessions regardless of their own experience in the contact version of the sport. The non-contact versions place a greater emphasis on handling and evasion skills, contributing to the physical literacy of young people and providing them with a safe space in which to develop their skills and confidence.”
